Bengali Music... Part : Its a good day

Download Peggy Lee - It s A Good Day.mp3 (1.3 MB) for free on uploading.com

Yeah its a good day.. may be for me but not for the music of Bangladesh or West Bengal. History of Bengali music in Bengali films or more precisely in Bangladesh's feature films were very heart touching,so soulful. But with the flow of time musics have been changed as well as the flicks.

Back to the past....

Long since I have a cherish in myself to be a film maker or director. some 2/3 years ago whenever I had told my friends that after my graduation I would join film school, every time there was a huge riot of laughter. It's not because that I don't have the capability or merit but because Bengali movie means to them a piece of s*** which can never be changed.

It was such a time when everybody waited for the Friday to come because we had a evening show of Bengali films on Fridays. Still our respected BTV (Bangladesh Television) telecasts movies on Fridays but nobody watches.

But why?

Because now-a-days we dont make films, we make some meaningless scenes in addition of some crappy and creepy songs which creates immense pressure on a normal human being. One actor, one actress and some directors--this is our film industry in a nutshell...... So viewers are decreasing though movies are increasing.

But there was a time when people went to theatre and watched each and every films with similar kinds of curiosity. I will try to put some film songs from the golden era of Bengali movie with download links in between my writing and if you can live the golden age once again. Because it vanished.

Change of taste and filling the gaps

Now people from our country like to watch Bollywood or hindi movies. I am not saying to watch a film from a different language is bad but the curiosity for that is alarming. Some people even like to talk in hindi language especially the young generation. I live in a foreign country and I came to know some people who likes to introduce themselves as indians to other foreigners. Nothing but a big SORRY for them.

Lets hope one day they will understand which country they belong to.....

But sometimes I think myself whom to blame?

-The illiterate, useless directors and producers who constantly copying stories, scripts, musics, lyrics from other countries...
OR
-The deaf audience who are engulfing them or soaking the Hindi films up.

I THINK THE WEIGHT IS HEAVIER TO THE FIRST ONE.

Its really a matter of regret to think about other language when we have a language which we got after massive bloodshed.

On the other hand I do think some Bangladeshi film makers have the ability to compete with any other film industry. But it's only the courage and idea which can change the fate.
I am waiting for that silver moment when I can show my friends and as well as the other world "look this is my country's film and this is my culture, my tradition and my soil where I was born"-- I know it hears emotional but it creates feelings.

But thanks to god and to the film makers who made some golden feature films some 10/15 years ago. All of them were amazing..but I can remember about Jibon theke neya (1970), Titash Ekti nodir nam(1973) by Hrithik Kumar Ghatak, Shareng Bou (1978) by Abdullah al Mamun, Golapi Akhon Train-e (1978) by Amzad Hossain , Chhutir Ghonta (1980) by Azizur Rahman, Guddi (1980) by Syed Salahuddin Zaki and many more.

What now??
We can only pray and can say  "Jaago Bangladesh" (Wake up Bangladesh)........

Cricket : A game of Unknown

For many days I wanted to publish the rules and regulations of Cricket. Now its almost a obligatory for me, because one of my close friend has requested me to write about cricket. He knows the game but only visually which can be defined as pre-primary stage for learning any game. For example my knowledge about baseball or rugby which is pretty scaring. So better to avoid.

Starting point...

As history says cricket was first played in the early 16th century in England. So it can be said that the origin of cricket was from England. Though it was limited only to the Royal kings family. For which its still called as "The Gentleman's Game".

During 19th century....

By this time cricket was well established in India, The Caribbean, South Africa, Australia and New Zealand. Interestingly First International cricket match was played between USA and Canada and neither of them well established now.

ICC or International Cricket Council

Governing body of cricket or ICC was founded in the early 19th century though it has changed its name more than twice. The headquarters of ICC is situated in Dubai from where it regulates.

Cricket Playing nations now-a-days...

ICC has 104 members.Among them 10 full members,34 associate members and other 60 affiliate members.

Full members are

1. Australia
2. Bangladesh
3. England
4. India
5. New Zealand
6. Pakistan
7. South Africa
8. Sri Lanka
9. West Indies
10. Zimbabwe

Full members of ICC has the ability to play any format in cricket. They also are called as Elite members of cricket.

Accessories needed to play cricket

It is the prime need for playing any types of sports especially in cricket. To play a proper cricket match which things are needed listed below..

1.Bat

2.Ball

3.stumps

4.Batsmen gloves

5.wicket-keeper gloves

6.Batsmen knee-pads

7. wicket-keeper knee-pads

8.batsmen helmet

9.wicket-keeper helmet

Ins and Outs of Cricket Ground, cricket pitch and wickets

An ideal Cricket ground is oval shaped. But it may be seen circular from outer perspective though its not. On this ICC has a mandatory of 140 yards from boundary to boundary square of the pitch. Although some of the grounds of the world do not fulfil these requirements because they may be built long before.

In the cricket field where all the action takes place is called Pitch. Pitch is rectangular in size. As the mandatory of ICC a pitch should be 22 yards or 20 meter in length.
At each end of a pitch there are 3 wooden stumps should be installed. Together they are called as wickets. At each part the 3 stumps are linked with 2 wooden piece at the top. They are known as Bails.

Classification of Matches in cricket....

There are 3 types of cricket which are playing between different countries now-a-days.

1.Test match
They continue for 5 days. The teams are allowed to play 2 innings each.
2.One day International (ODI match)
Each team get 50 overs to show their effort.
3.T20 international match
This is the shortest and newest version of cricket to supply more interest to general crowd and to spread the game in the corners.

Cricket is playing day and night...

Test matches are not allowed to play in night still though ODI matches and T20 matches may be played in nights as in days.

What is a over????

In over is consisted of 6 balls.
Test match continues for 5 days as a mandatory but each day should be consisted of at least 90 overs  if there is no interruption in the play.

One day matches consisted of 100 overs which means 50 overs for each team.
T20 matches go by teir names and consisted of 40 overs,20 over each.

A standard cricket team

Alike football a cricket team also consists 11 players. A player may be measured either bowler or batsman depending on his skill. But some players can play the both role in a cricket match. They are known as all-rounders.
Every cricket team want to occupy at least 4 specialist bowlers,5 specialist batsmen,1 wicket-keeper and 1 all-rounder.

Batting style…

Some batsmen are aggressive by nature whereas some like to defend. But most of the times it depends on the situation. If there is enough overs to play batsmen try to occupy in the crease and attack in the last overs which also known as Slog overs.
But some batsmen naver wait for the slog overs to come. They try to hit from the very beginning. For example Adam Gilchrist from Australia, Shahid Afridi from Pakistan etc.
Some batsmen like to defend till the last seconds. Such as Rahul Dravid from India, Raqibul Hasan from Bangladesh and many more.

Bowlimg Style…

Some bowlers can bowl  at a sheer speed regularly. They are kknown as fast bowlers. Some of them can even deliver the ball at a speed over 140km/h or 90m/h. e.g. Shane bond from New Zealand, Shoaib Akhtar from Pakistan, Shaun Tait and Brett lee from Australia etc.
The bowlers who don’t have sheer speed but bowls at a medium speed over 125km/h are known as medium fast bowlers. Such as Mashrafe Mortaza from Bangladseh, Zaheer khan from India etc.
But some bowlers try to trap the batsmen by their slow but guile bowling are known as Spinners or spin bowlers. But they can be divided in 2 sections such as Off spin bowlers and leg spin bowlers. Off spin bowlers can spin the ball from off stump to leg stump and for leg spinners vice versa. There is also one kind which defines the slow left arm bowlers.
Some world class offspinners are Muttiah Muralitharan from Sri Lanka, Harbhajan Singh from India etc.
Leg spinners are also not negligible. We got some world class leg spinners time to time such as Shane Warne from Australia, Anil Kumble from India and so on.
Bangladesh is called as the production house for slow left armers. Such as Shakib al Hasan and Abdur Razzaq are well known from this country.

Fielding style…

All the 11 players  of the fielding team take the field together  except the bowler and wicket-keeper aka keeper. Captain of the team and sometimes the bowler select the positions of the fielder. To be good fielder it is must for any player to be fit and skiled.

What is a Run…
Run is equal to points in cricket. The batsman who face the ball of the bowler is called as striker and the batsman who is standing on the other end is called vice versa, non-striker. It is must to have 2 batsmen at the same time in the crease but in different ends.
Runs may be scored In 3 ways
1. Run by interchanging the position between 2 batsmen :  runs can be made if the 2 batsmen interchange their place successfully. In this way they can make 2,3,4… runs depending their number of changing positions
2. Runs by hitting 4,6 : there is a rope surrounding the ground is called boundary line. If the ball hit by batsman crosses the rope touching the ground is called a 4 run and if the ball crosses the rope not having any contact with the ground is called a 6 run.
3. runs by extras (what is extra in next para)

Extras

Additional runs can be gained by the batting team which are called as extras.
1.  No ball : one run extra is conceded by the bowler if he breaks the rule. If the bowler’s front foot crosses the return crease is called a no ball by umpire.
If the bowler has an inappropriate action to ball not abiding the rules of ICC is called a no ball and one run conceded. ICC recommends the bowlers not to bowl breaking the arm more than 15 degrees. It is an official rule from ICC.
If the bowler’s ball bounces more than the batsman’s chest is called a no ball.
Every types of no balls must be re-bowled.
2. wide ball : if the ball crosses the batsman without touching him and outside of the white line area is called a wide ball. It also must be re-bowled.
3.Bye and Leg bye : bye can be committed by the fielding team if they let the batsman run for extra runs. This can be happened by overthrowing or by misfielding.

Types of dismissals (outs)

There are different types of outs in cricket by which a batsman can see back the dressing room.
1.bowled out
2.caught out
3.run out
4.stump out
5.leg before wicket (LBW)
6.hit wicket
7.hit the ball twice
8.obstructed the field
9.handled the ball
10.timed out

Effect of thinking....(part: The brutality)

In school I learnt an essay named "Value of Time" ,where I found a sentence which remains as one of my favourite quotes...it was something like "Life is not a bed of roses, its a bed of thrones".
I'm afraid that I don't know who wrote the quote first but whatever I would like to express my highest possible regard for him because he wrote about my present situation so accurately.
It would be inconceivable for anyone to survive in a harsh condition but that is what I'm continuing. I know may be my well wishers and page viewers or readers didn't get me. But I will explain everything step by step.
To live a far away from home, from family, friends and of course motherland is not so easy. And if the place where you live is more worse than anything its almost like an addition to your sufferings. May be you can consider it as a hard truth of your life but at the end of the day a question arises what can I do?
The answer was self-made and of course I will explain...
And as an addition to these troubles you will sense one thing steadily that people around you are so disgusting, so rude, so arrogant and of course neither friendly nor helpful. Even at some points you will feel yourself as Martian!
May be you are cooking your food, washing your clothes while your classmates are preparing for the examination. But I can not deny these situations because these are my daily needs and wherever I stay I have to fulfil these. But again searching for some helping verbs!
On the other hand if you are not allow to do any part time jobs that makes things worst. Because it means you don't have any financial source which follows to empty wallets. In some occasions your family also can't help you because they are living far far away. And some countries also don't support easy money sending or receiving system. Such as Somalia.
Everyday you wake up with new dreams, with new possibilities but everything stops at one point when bound to continue this kind of life. May be you are crying but again nobody will come ahead to commiserate you. Everyday I face a lot of problems but I am not helpless. Because I know from inside in one shiny morning I will wake up and everything will be all right.
Do you know from where I get all my positive energies? It is Music. It may be funny but its true. Music teaches me how to celebrate the life. Every note of music expresses immense joy and tremendous achievement. I reboot my life with music everyday maybe every moment. And my choice of music I already stated in my past blogs.
These craziness of mine for music possibly little bit funny. But I believe only music has no limit, no language and no border.
I think its not a bad advice to listen music more and more. Because at the end it makes feeling us refresh...which is really a crying need now-a-days.
okay that's all for today but one track I really want to share with you...

And of course Happy thinking...

Effect of thinking....(part: endless begin)

Ready for today?

I know its hard to explain but I didn't able to get a space yesterday evening. So my place was ignored and I was neglected by myself. But today I want to close this chapter down but its too difficult to think even. Whatever happens in our life is just a mere reflection of our did's. But enjoying a sound calm music can help you feel the heaven in your neighbours.

Classical music was created on this cause no one can refuse. Though its some 1500 years old. But as I say always, classical songs-they all are evergreen. And one interesting truth which I should share that the term "classical" is a new age creation and was first included in the Oxford dictionary in the mid 19th century. Firstly on the middle age it was named after region where it produced. Such as,Indian art music.

Problem of singing classical..

Now come the point of singing classic. Its impossible for a person like me. Because basically I am a bathroom-singer. But to be a vocalist of classical songs you needed to be trained enough to grip it as glass of water. I know right at this moment someone is thinking if I am not an expert of music why I am blogging on this topic. The answer I already stated in my first blog. Music lives in me or maybe I live in music. On this very sentence right now I can remember one of my favourite songs which was sung by Mr.Andrea Bocelli. He is an Italian singer and the song named "Vivo Per Lei" which means "I Live for her". Actually he meant music as his dream girl.

Era of churrigueresco and romance

Era of  churrigueresco music is distinguished from the mid of 17th century to end of 18th century. On this space of time human civilization saw use of various instruments for the first time. Such as pipe organ. Opera started to accept as a form of music from this era.

Opera reminds me 1 song which enchanted me long ago..the music is from The Phantom of Opera and was named as Think of me.
Okay if you not then check out the music..

The music of  romantic era was characterised from late 19th century to early 20th century. On this epoch lyricists and composers started to feel the melody of songs than ever.

Have you guys heard the title track of The Godfather by Nino Rota. To me it was more than a creation..
taste it if you are intelligent enough. Ha ha I was just joking...Enjoy

Effect of thinking....(part: midnight)

Some 20 days ago I promised that I will come again. But that would take 20 days I did not think even. Today I want  to share some definitions of some particular types of musics which almost been forgotten and of course concisely. Now-a-days "so called" music directors and composers make music by their own desire. They do not even care either they are wrong or not. Which has done one thing successfully. Now they are giving thousands of hit tracks which is enough to enchant general people. And the most interesting part of that success is that some country musicians or even some underground famous bands find their songs or composition has been stolen and they didn't even knew it. May be it's funny but hard enough to break hearts.

I will discuss this "stealing part" more precisely in my next blog. And that will not take 20 days i can assure definitely. Because my schedules are more flexible than ever...so...

Eventually classical music is the root of everything whether we acknowledge it or not. Some 1500 years ago it  was sung whole heartedly though the time measured as the most primary stage of classical music. And by the passages of times it also changed its way of flowing many times.

I will catch you up later because I have to go now. But I will back tomorrow and will complete the untold truth behind music and their composers.

But I have a quiz for everyone, can anyone tell me what is the meaning of the phrase "Think eggs, think nightmares"...But dear friends you have to find it yourself because I also don't know the exact meaning. I know its very awful to ask a quiz whose breakdown I don't know myself but again the Universe is a box of puzzles and for any individual it's impossible to know everything and so am I..So pardon my ignorance..

And good night...Happy thinking...

once upon a day in...

Sometimes i try to look into my soul into my conscience.Actually what is going on! Is it okay?or was that insane? I try to make a figure..am i talking too much or less? Questioning is one of my special features.I keep questioning until someone feeling bore. But it also has some advantages..people will keep distance. You can think free.Nobody can harm unless make you injure physically. But are we really thinking?

My username is songnpeople. But i am not discussing about songs nor people.some people may already think that i have no place to go but i have a computer and unfortunately i have a internet connection. So i am taking full advantages of being alone.i am writing some unhealthy philosophical crap.

But do you really think that is the answer? the answer of the very last sentence is a very big NO.my point of view maybe different but the way of visualize is same.i also have 2 eyes as you have. But i have some scars which follows a natural darkness in viewing.

Now get to the point.what is going on around us.Are we really getting the essence of past unforgettable songs.I am from new generation but my thinking is not old.maybe it is not modified.I also know time is changing but it never means ears are changing. You dont need to be a singing master to understand good and entertaining songs. And of course entertainment never means using various kinds of music instruments for some extraterrestrial sounds which sometimes annoying even.

at the end this is not my last blog neither my first.I will keep updating you with some quality healthy and powerful music which really signifies what music all about. And think ...are we really passing our best time on the earth?
