Yeah its a good day.. may be for me but not for the music of Bangladesh or West Bengal. History of Bengali music in Bengali films or more precisely in Bangladesh's feature films were very heart touching,so soulful. But with the flow of time musics have been changed as well as the flicks.

Long since I have a cherish in myself to be a film maker or director. some 2/3 years ago whenever I had told my friends that after my graduation I would join film school, every time there was a huge riot of laughter. It's not because that I don't have the capability or merit but because Bengali movie means to them a piece of s*** which can never be changed.

It was such a time when everybody waited for the Friday to come because we had a evening show of Bengali films on Fridays. Still our respected BTV (Bangladesh Television) telecasts movies on Fridays but nobody watches.

But why?

Because now-a-days we dont make films, we make some meaningless scenes in addition of some crappy and creepy songs which creates immense pressure on a normal human being. One actor, one actress and some directors--this is our film industry in a nutshell...... So viewers are decreasing though movies are increasing.

But there was a time when people went to theatre and watched each and every films with similar kinds of curiosity. I will try to put some film songs from the golden era of Bengali movie with download links in between my writing and if you can live the golden age once again. Because it vanished.

Change of taste and filling the gaps

Now people from our country like to watch Bollywood or hindi movies. I am not saying to watch a film from a different language is bad but the curiosity for that is alarming. Some people even like to talk in hindi language especially the young generation. I live in a foreign country and I came to know some people who likes to introduce themselves as indians to other foreigners. Nothing but a big SORRY for them.

Lets hope one day they will understand which country they belong to.....

But sometimes I think myself whom to blame?

-The illiterate, useless directors and producers who constantly copying stories, scripts, musics, lyrics from other countries...
OR
-The deaf audience who are engulfing them or soaking the Hindi films up.

I THINK THE WEIGHT IS HEAVIER TO THE FIRST ONE.

Its really a matter of regret to think about other language when we have a language which we got after massive bloodshed.

On the other hand I do think some Bangladeshi film makers have the ability to compete with any other film industry. But it's only the courage and idea which can change the fate.
I am waiting for that silver moment when I can show my friends and as well as the other world "look this is my country's film and this is my culture, my tradition and my soil where I was born"-- I know it hears emotional but it creates feelings.

But thanks to god and to the film makers who made some golden feature films some 10/15 years ago. All of them were amazing..but I can remember about Jibon theke neya (1970), Titash Ekti nodir nam(1973) by Hrithik Kumar Ghatak, Shareng Bou (1978) by Abdullah al Mamun, Golapi Akhon Train-e (1978) by Amzad Hossain , Chhutir Ghonta (1980) by Azizur Rahman, Guddi (1980) by Syed Salahuddin Zaki and many more.

What now??
We can only pray and can say  "Jaago Bangladesh" (Wake up Bangladesh)........
